Q. Can I share my username and password with other people?
A. No. It is prohibited under the licensing agreement we have with your parish. It is also prohibited under the agreements we have with our copyright holders.
In addition, sharing passwords creates problems when people move to other parishes or when a user changes a username or password, thus locking out other users.
Q. Can we get extra usernames and passwords?
A. Yes. You can purchase extra usernames and passwords, both full and partial, for a small cost. Just send us an email and let us know what you need.
Q. Can I change my username and password?
A. Yes. Once you’ve logged in, you can change your username and password – just go to the Admin tab along the top of the page, then follow the prompts that will appear in the left-hand column.
Usernames should be based on the user’s name. For example, they could take the form of Mary Smith or mary-smith or mary_smith or mary.smith.
If the system says that a name is not available then simply add a random number e.g. Mary Smith45. Please do not create general usernames like “parish priest”, or “catechist”, or “musician”.
Passwords need to be eight digits, and can include numbers, letters or characters such as # $ % (any of the “shift numbers”). Ideally a password will include a mix of upper and lowercase letters as well as numbers and other characters.
Passwords cannot include any part of, or be substantially like, the username e.g. if your username is Mary Smith and you tried to use mary and/or smith in the password, the system would not allow that.
Do not use a password that you use for other purposes. In particular, do not use a password that you use for banking or online shopping.
Q. I’m having trouble getting into the site.
A. Start afresh, typing liturgyhelp.com in the URL bar. That should take you to a page headed “Welcome to LiturgyHelp”, and you will see a login box on the right-hand side of the page. Click on that.
Next, check to make sure you’re using the correct username and password. They are case sensitive, so make sure you haven’t mixed up any upper or lowercase letters, or inserted any stray spaces.
Q. Can I publish readings, prayers and other resources from LiturgyHelp in my parish/school newsletter?
A. Yes, you can print items in your newsletter, but don’t forget to put a lectionary/missal copyright if you are using the lectionary or missal. A general LiturgyHelp copyright acknowledgement is sufficient for other items. Archiving bulletins on websites (or other services such as Facebook) containing LiturgyHelp resources beyond a few weeks is not allowed.
Q. Am I allowed to put readings and other LiturgyHelp resources on my website?
A. No. The exception is where those items are included in your parish/school bulletin which you put on your parish/school website. In that situation though, there must only be a few recent bulletins on your website. Some parishes have an archive of bulletins on their website – in that case, the readings and other LiturgyHelp resources would need to be deleted from those bulletins. In other words, those resources must not be “released into the wild”.
Q. Our parish has a subscription and would like to share some of the LiturgyHelp resources with our parish school. Is that okay?
A. No, the school would need to take out their own subscription. Likewise, if they have a subscription they cannot share it with the parish.
